Blytheville, AR — This morning, Blytheville High School (BHS) was placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure following a security incident involving a student and their family members.
A parent entered the BHS Welcome Center Lobby with their son and adult daughter, expressing concerns that their son might be in possession of a weapon. The Welcome Center personnel immediately followed protocol by contacting school security, who in turn requested assistance from the Blytheville Police Department (BPD).
During the incident, the parent discovered a weapon on their adult daughter, which was then promptly collected by school security. The BPD arrived swiftly, ensuring that all parties involved were safely removed from the building.
The safety and security of our students and staff are of the utmost importance, and we are grateful for the quick response from our school security team and local law enforcement. The situation was resolved without further incident, and the lockdown was lifted shortly thereafter and classes resumed.
